How to upload a folder to your own bucket

You have a folder on a laptop. You want the whole tree in a bucket you own.

file.rocks is the UI. The objects land in the bucket you connected.

This is folder-drag into Files. It is not how to upload files to your own bucket (loose file drop). It is not how to create a folder in your own bucket (empty New Folder). It is not the transfer-link Add folders card. That control is for transfers only. Do not look for an Add folders button on Files.

1. No bucket yet

You need S3-compatible object storage. Not another Drive clone.

2. Open Files and drag the folder

Sign in at file.rocks. Open Files. Pick a bucket you own. Open the folder you want the tree under, or stay at the bucket root.

Drag a folder from your computer onto the Files page. The overlay says Drop files here / to upload to this folder.

Nested files upload with their relative paths under the current folder. Basename collisions do not clobber each other because the path stays on the file.

You are not copying into file.rocks storage. The objects land in the connected bucket.

3. Watch it land

Wait until the uploads finish. Open a nested file and make sure it plays or opens. Check that the folder tree matches what you dropped.

Your provider sets the object limits. This post does not invent size or count caps.

4. What this is not

This is not New Folder. That makes an empty folder. That path is how to create a folder in your own bucket.

This is not dropping loose files one by one. That path is how to upload files to your own bucket.

This is not Add folders on a transfer link. That card is transfers only. Files has no Add folders button.

This is not a migrate from Drive or Photos. Start at Move Google Drive to your own bucket or Move Google Photos to your own bucket if the library is still elsewhere.

5. Then stop
