How to turn off a public link from your own bucket

You already own the objects. Someone has a public link. You want that link dead.

file.rocks is the UI. Turning the link off does not delete the object in the bucket.

This is revoke. It is not a remake of how to share a file from your own bucket or how to share a folder from your own bucket. Those create the link. This turns it off.

1. No bucket yet

You need S3-compatible object storage. Not another Drive clone.

2. Turn the link off

Sign in at file.rocks. Open Files. Pick a bucket you own.

Find a file or folder that already has a public link. The row shows a globe.

Open the row menu. Click Share file... or Share folder.... Or click the globe (Open share options).

The modal title is Share File or Share Folder. While the link is live, the toggle says Public link enabled.

Flip the toggle off.

The toast is Disabling sharing... then Sharing disabled. A fail toasts Failed to disable sharing.

The label becomes Public link disabled. Anyone with the old URL loses access.

You can turn it back on later from the same modal. That path is Create public link / enable. Use the share posts for that.

If you set a password or expiry when you created the link, those stay out of scope here. Disabling the link still kills access either way.

3. Then stop
