Some people need your files every day. A partner sorting family photos, a coworker who uploads client work, someone who keeps the archive tidy.
You can invite them into your workspace without giving them your storage keys. You decide what they can do, and you can change it later.
This guide is for people who stay. If you only need to send something once, use how to share a file from your own bucket or how to share a folder from your own bucket. To collect files from someone, see how to let others upload files to your own bucket.
Sign in at file.rocks and go to Settings. Open the Workspace card.
That opens the Workspace Details page. Scroll to the Workspace Members section. Everyone in the workspace is listed there, along with any invites still waiting.
No bucket connected yet? Start with how to connect an Amazon S3 bucket, then come back.
Click Invite Member.
Invites are part of the Pro and Managed Storage plans. On other plans, an Upgrade to Invite Team Members window opens instead, with a Continue to billing button.
The Invite user to [your workspace] window opens. Type their address in Email address.
Under Permissions, pick one of two options:
With Custom permissions picked, four checkboxes show up:
Someone who only needs to look gets View. A photo contributor gets View and Upload. Add Edit only for people you trust to rename, move and delete.
Click Send Invitation. A message pops up that says Invitation sent to [email].
Their invite now shows in the members list as pending. If they can't find the email, click Send again. Changed your mind? Click Remove.
They get an email with an Accept Invitation link. It opens the Workspace Invitations page.
If they don't have an account or aren't signed in, they land on the sign-up page first. After that, they click Accept Invitation and end up in Files, inside your workspace.
Go back to Workspace Members and click Edit on their row. Checkboxes appear for Admin, View, Upload, Edit and Transfer.
Tick or untick what you want, then click Save. Want to keep an eye on space as more people upload? See how to check storage usage in your own bucket.
Your files stay in the bucket you connected, and file.rocks is how you manage them.
