How to switch, edit, or remove a bucket in file.rocks

Cover image

Lots of people connect more than one bucket. Maybe Cloudflare R2 holds your photos and Backblaze B2 holds your backups.

This guide shows how to pick the bucket you are working in, fix a bucket's details when something changes, and remove a connection you no longer need.

Open your buckets

Click Settings in the sidebar, then open the Buckets card. That takes you to the Buckets page at /settings/buckets.

Each bucket gets its own card. The card shows the name you gave it, and under that the provider and the bucket name, like "Cloudflare R2 • my-photos". The number next to the Buckets heading tells you how many you have connected.

Switch to another bucket

Open the menu on the card you want and choose Select Bucket. You can also just click the card. You will see "Selecting bucket..." and then "Bucket selected", and the active bucket gets a green border.

If you own or run the workspace, this also sets the default bucket for everyone. If you are a member, it only changes the bucket you see.

Edit a bucket's details

Choose Edit Details on a card to update its keys, endpoint, or display name. It opens the same form you used to connect the bucket. When you save, that bucket becomes your active one.

Buckets that file.rocks hosts for you don't have Edit Details.

Remove a bucket

Choose Delete Bucket on the card. You will see "Deleting bucket..." and then "Bucket deleted".

This only removes the connection from file.rocks. Your files stay put in your bucket, and you can connect it again any time. Share links, transfer links and sync jobs for that bucket are removed too.

You can't remove the bucket you are working in. Select a different bucket first, then remove the old one.

Add another bucket

Click Add Bucket at the top of the Buckets page. If you have none yet, you will see a Create your first bucket button instead. Adding your own buckets works on the free plan.

For setup steps, see our guides for Cloudflare R2, Backblaze B2 and Amazon S3.

Your files stay in the bucket you connected, and file.rocks is how you manage them.
