This post moves your Amazon Photos library into a storage bucket you own. You download the files from Amazon, zip them, and import the zip in file.rocks.
If you are coming from another service, see move Google Photos to your own bucket or move iCloud Photos to your own bucket.
You need your Amazon Photos account, a computer with a desktop browser, and a bucket already connected to file.rocks. For a large library you also need the Amazon Photos Desktop app.
Amazon's help page "Download Photos and Videos Using a Web Browser" lists these steps:
The same page notes: "It is not possible to download entire albums. Open the album, and select all the pictures you want to download."
Amazon's UK help page "How to Download Files from Amazon Drive?" gives a limit for each download. It says you can select items "up to 1,000 files or up to 5-GB total size at time" and that "Multiple files or folders will be downloaded as a ZIP file."
That page also says this feature "is only available for desktop browsers." We did not find the same limit on Amazon's US help pages.
For more than that at once, Amazon's Amazon Drive FAQ gives these steps:
Amazon says a screen with your download progress will appear. The files are saved to a folder you choose.
The file.rocks import takes zip files, so our advice is to zip that folder before you import it. The import page's own instruction is: "Zip the folder of files you want to upload (Finder: Compress, or any zip tool)."
Sign in at file.rocks. Click Settings in the sidebar, then open Import. Stay on the From zip tab, under the heading Import from zip.
Folder paths inside the zip are kept under your destination folder. Your Amazon folders show up the same way in the bucket.
If you would rather upload the zip and unpack it later, see how to unzip a file in your own bucket.
Your files stay in the bucket you connected, and file.rocks is how you manage them.
